Dr Michelle Garnett is a highly accomplished and widely respected clinical psychologist whose particular expertise lies with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). She has nearly 30 years of experience in private practice and is the founder and former Director of Minds & Hearts, an internationally renowned clinic and the world's first clinic specializing in intervention for Asperger's syndrome.

Dr Garnett has made important contributions to aspects of the diagnosis and treatment of ASD over the years, including co-writing the first screening tool for Asperger’s syndrome in 1993, and a tool specifically for girls and women in 2011.

Dr Garnett is widely published in peer-reviewed journals and has co-authored several books on ASD and Asperger’s syndrome. Several of these have been written in partnership with fellow Asperger’s expert Dr Tony Attwood, including From Like to Love for Young People With Asperger’s Syndrome and Cognitive Behavior Therapy to Help Young People With Asperger’s Syndrome (Autism Spectrum Disorder) to Understand and Express Affection. Also with Dr Attwood, she runs the training and education organization, Attwood & Garnett Events.

Dr Garnett provides ASD training for a number of Australian universities and has been involved with coverage of autism issues by the likes of The Sydney Morning Herald, the ABC, The Courier Mail and various other media outlets.
